Having a halfway normal day after seeing The Killers at the UIC in Chicago on Tuesday night and then having to be up in Milwaukee MATC for work Wednesday morning…………………..it’s been a rough one. The ride down was somewhat uneventful and even with a little bit of traffic it didn’t take much more that 90 minutes or so to get down there. We had an IPass and a couple of staples to get us by on the ride.
We headed our way onto Taylor Ave. which is apparently the place to be while in the area. There was a good strip of restaurants and taverns there and it was really close to the UIC campus. We planned on stopping in and eating at Hawkeye’s and after realizing that we’d practically have to park on the 290 because we didn’t have any city parking permit for the neighborhood that we were zig zagging through we thought that we’d just have to go to the concert and try to grab a dawg on the way or something. Well after about 20 minutes of searching I decided to place my universal parking permit in the window and we had about a 100 foot walk. We weren’t going to be long at all and luckily the car was there when we got done AND their were no cites or parking boots on it. The food was delicious (Mmmmm buffalo chix sammy) and the atmosphere was good as well. When we left I got a chance to see a real live urbanite fixie tied up and just waiting for it’s owner to return. I figured that it must have belonged to a chic or probably a guy with really, really developed Magnus Man type triceps. This of course is by no means a scientific guess but merely an estimation based on the 15 inch handlebars.
After that it was off to the concert. The Killers put on a really good show and the sound quality was awesome. Those guys nailed it for a couple of hours. They played alot of their newest stuff and mixed in some songs off of their last few albums too. Since I was into making observations about the night at the concert I surmised the following about about “Going to a Rock Concert Cold Weather Attire”. The 2 most notable observations about GTRCCWA were that 1. Anyone that was wearing a black leather jacket was an old person and that 2. Even though there was no true way to tell for certain I believed that anyone that was wearing an actual fleece jacket was from Wisconsin.
We both had on fleece.
