Nope not the Tour of California but rather the Tour of Caledonia. Sure California has some mountains and valleys filled with wineries but Caledonia’s landscape is occupied with wood lines, farms and has the only ‘Husher Pub and Grill’ in the entire nation. Sign me up for the Caledonia route. So with the recent rains and minimal snowfall the Homies scheduled a sunny Sunday afternoon ride with a steady temp of 27 degrees. I rode to the hot spot and met up with Len, Springer, Danny, and Jeffro.
Now yesterday we snuck in a little MTB ride where basically in between fits of near black out I was cursing my gear selection through most of the ride. Even though today was going to be a friendly ride I was a little nervous about the chubby legs, meaning mine. I mean seriously, you know that you’ve been in full blown Slacker Mode when you have to add 10 lbs to your Garmin’s user profile. Either way it felt awesome to be outside in a group. Good company and good roads and I even seemed to dial in the right clothing for the ride.
One of the highlights of the day was watching some little ankle biter chasing the group down for a hundred feet or so. He was one determined little pup and was holding a respectable 16 mph pace which probably doesn’t seem all that outrageous until you really factor in the fact that he was doing it on like 4 inch legs.
I finished the day out with 2 hours on the bike and bought out enough sun and windburn to get me through the evening.
Reference the West Coasts version of the TOC, I was gonna give it up to Fabian but now I just heard that he pulled out at a feed zone due to a fever………Hmmmm, good luck to him. Either way those doods are tearing it up at a time when I usually seem to be in a “Sooper Funk” and then the TOC comes around and it proves to give much needed relief from cabin fever.
I’m thinking about making Black and Yellow my colors this year. Anybody know where I can get a good deal on a bike?

You gotta luv Lenny he makes even me look smaller.
