Short for obsolete land loafer, vagabond, or one who is habitually idle.
So I’m walking into the gym today, not because it’s a good place to lift weights, stretch or get some good cardio vascular fitness but rather because they make a really, really good strawberry banana smoothie and they have an awesome steam room. But that’s a different story entirely. An before I get to the locker room I come across one of the worst kind of draggers that I think that I can publicly tolerate.
Now I’m not talking about the draggers that some of you are thinking about and you know who you are. I’m not even talking about the type draggers that you’d maybe expect at a gym, that being the knuckle dragger. Or what I learned to actually be a cool sort of KnuckleDragger. Nope, it wasn’t any of those things. Rather it was a full blown grown adult female dragging her heels in chunky winter boot on a ceramic floor.
It was only a span of 45 feet where I was forced to see and hear her lazily dragging heels as she took pained steps with the sound of pshht…………pshht………….pshht…………..pshht clinging in the air but it was enough to make me ponder the fate of the world. It’s bad enough when kids do it but really who cares, they’re kids. But grown ups are an entirely different story. I mean C”MON!!!!! What on earth could you have possibly have been doing today that you get to a point when you’re walking that you just decide, ” Yeah, I’m not feeling it. My hip flexors just aren’t up to the task of raising my heels high enough SO AS TO LET MY HEELS ACTUALLY RAISE OFF OF THE FRICKING GROUND!!!!!!!!!”
I don’t know, I don’t get the whole heel dragging thing but I think that there is definitely a sub culture of loafers out the that all fit the bill and generally meet most qualifications on that heel dragging check list:
1. General sense of over all dumpiness
2. Frumpy factor of at least 8 or higher
3. Usually wearing some stupid look on their face
4. Max forward speed of 1.0 MPH
5. Often walks on THEIR left side while other are naturally walking on the right
I wonder if it’s just me??
its not just you joe, this absolutely pisses me off. Its actually one of the few things that me and my GF agree on. Only solution: instant execution. I know its harsh but you gotta set an example.
How about the checklist? Am I missing anything? After I posted it I thought about possibly adding the fact that a heel dragger has no problem running around in the afternoon in PJ’s?
