We got dumped on.
We’re currently digging out from the 12-18 inch dump of snowfall that took place over the last 2 days. That’s definitely going to put a damper on riding the fat tire bikes for a little bit, around here at least it is.
I’ve been reading some books about mountaineering lately. I find it absolutely fascinating. I read Jon Krakaur’s “Into Thin Air” some time ago and just recently re-read it. It tells a story of one of the worst storms ever recorded while climbers were trying to survive a summit of Everest. It’s a pretty intimate account that’s told and shares what it’s like to bonk at 28,000 feet plus. So since then I’ve been looking into other readings dealing with the same thing. Humans powering themselves up great big ol mountains and the peril or personal rewards that could come with it. Most of these peaks are over 27,000 feet above ground level. It makes you wonder how some of these guys can endure climbing day after day in some of the harshest conditions just to say, “Yup, I did it”. My hats off to them.
So with that kind of motivation still looming around I headed to the Belle’s highest peak. The Mountain of Lockwood. There I stood with all of the other sledders in the thin air of 700 feet above sea level.
It was a good thing that I brought my camp stove.
is that a four square jacket?
