I had a chance to take full advantage of some good weather today. I didn’t cut the grass. I didn’t trim some trees. I didn’t burn some brush and I certainly didn’t rake any leaves today. The only thing that I was burning up was some single track.
I’m still getting used to the Jibber Jabber and by the end of the day the 51.8 gear inches felt heavier than a 1980′s full suspension bike. Temperature on arrival was a steamy 64 degrees and there were plenty of cars in the parking lot. It felt nice to be out in the woods without all the winter wear on, hopefully it’ll stick around for a while.
Garmin says that we put in 26.84 miles and climbed up 4,318 feet of earth at a 11.1 mph average. I probably would have been just fine without half of that climbing. The new 29er SS reminds me when I first got the SASS. I find myself thinking every once in a while that I could probably stand a couple of gears on that thing. Speaking of gears I saw some dood parking his 2010 Carbon Stumpy after getting done for a ride. I chatted with him a bit and even sized him up. Too bad that it was a 19 inch frame, I don’t think that my 30 inch inseem would have worked to well with it. That bike looks fast just sitting still. It’s definately on the radar now that the SWERKS has been sold.
Let’s try to keep this weather around for a little bit longer. I’m sure that it’ll just lead to me working on the yard in the cold, miserable rain.
Metul is spelled wrong – it’s metal. Thanks. Happy Hump Day!
