Escape from Belle City

With temperature scheduled to hit 60 Jeffro and I got out this morning to do the Loop of Death.

A little 45 Miler that shoots straight west then turns north into Milwaukee County.

The ride west was a little windy. 60 minutes straight into a steady category 3 (if winds actually have categories my assumption is that a 3 is pretty bad or at least undesirable) Windy enough to scrub our speeds down towards the big end of our cogs. On average it washed off 4-5 mph at any given time and added 15 minutes till we got to the turn.

This is the second week of any substantial riding that I’ve done outdoors and I’m looking to make this the “regular” route. It’s slowly getting a little easier. The first couple of jaunts around the Loop of Death didn’t feel so hot. The Gangster Langster made you aware that even the slightest elevation change was occurring, not to mention that it almost rattles your fillings out. After the rain last week the Crabon Roubaix was put on deck and felt like a Cadillac running on 35 PSI. Silky smooth and all the gear options that even a baby would want.

The loop of Death may be a slight exaggeration but there seems to be enough little step ups on each road that keep you on your toes. It’ll suck up 2 water bottles, 200-300 calories in food and roughly 3,000 calories of energy in 2.5 hours.

If you’re off Thursday mornings we’ll meet at the Casa de Picco and ride out by 9.
