That’s how it went down. “Pick ‘em up. Load ‘em up.” Straight bustin caps for the week and visiting as many local watering holes that the law would allow. I would have been much more reserved but my guy Bill wouldn’t have it. I met him after taking a tour of the fine Leinnie’s establishment. It was a cool tour and and pretty quaint which made it wholesome.
It of course ended here with the traditional samples
After that it was a search for neon. Anything would do as long as it was in the shape of a Leinenkugel Indian. I was sold, it was time to give back to the cause one pint at a time. That’s when Bill got restless, he wanted to bust a move so we headed to a couple of spots where he said the ‘cruz’n’ would be really nice….. When all was said and done it went something like this Mohwaks, Leroys, The Station, Sweeney’s, Burly’s, Last Chance Saloon, Red Room, O’Dooley’s, House of Rock, Sport’s Lounge, Houligans, Tialgaters, O’Leary’s, Bear Lodge, Last Stop, Whiskey Dicks and I’m pretty certain that I’m missing at least 2-4 establishments. It was like he was the honorary mayor of the Chippewa Valley.
This is Bill. As it turns out he gave up the hard life of steel and die casting in 1956 when he hung up his hard hat for the last time on N. Memorial Dr. at Belle City (aka Racine Steel Castings). And I was actually told that the name of the street was Lafayette at the time. All that soot must of must have caked his stomach cause he could throw the Peeber’s back. He’s Officially Belle City Bill as I swore him in as such before I left.
Now that’s bustin’ caps, Nice job, Joe Joe
