Yup, the second day of Spring and S/E Wisconsin holds true and steady to the barrage of wintery flurry. An estimated 10-14 inch dump of snow in a one day period. I’ll tell you that this guy wasn’t going to stick around to see how things were going to pan out, so I loaded up the truck and I moved the family. South that is.
We spent last night getting prepared for the particulars and then this morning loading up “The King of the Highway”, the wifes Pacifica. It’s like stacking legos but only it’s luggage and it’s way too much of it. Push here, pull there, lighten here and tuck there. In the end I fitted everything in and we were off. At a blistering pace of a crippled snail, because if there’s one car that absolutely sucks in winter conditions it’s a Pacific with factory highway tires………………augh!!
Either way were fighting the storm. Here’s a pic gassing up and grabbing some Joe for the ride. It’s 10 am.
There wasn’t any need to check the security of the bikes. They were frozen solid from the back tires spraying the bottoms of each tire while in the rack. So far I’m thinking that this is getting pretty retarded. Either way, forward we go.
I’m the wheel man.
The trip was anything short of uneventful. The scheduled 550 mile drive should have only taken 8 hours, at the most. Even with the white out condidtions that we left in. We didn’t get here until 11 pm. 13 long sore in the ass hours. Countless detours, vehicles in ditches, missed turns from the Skyway in search of I-65 and even roads in southern Indiana that were completely non-existent as they were flooded over as far as the eye could see. Seriously, follow a map until the county highway met a valley and there simply would be no road. It was messy.
Gotta get to bed. It’s still 66 degrees here and we’ve got plans in the morning. The only thing that I’ll be shoveling will be cliff bloks.
i thought it was the “Pacifico”, and it would get ya anywhere ya needed to go.
Figures, good ol’ Wisconsin.
